The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Assam, has recently released an official notification concerning FOR ADMISSION INTO 3-YEARS DIPLOMA IN ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY COURSES FOR THE SESSION-2025-26.
Online applications are invited from the candidates who are Permanent Resident of Assam and candidates applying under Central Govt. Employees quota for registration for admission into 3-years Diploma in Engineering and Technology Courses in State Government Polytechnics of Assam (except Modern office Management course of PCPS GP) for the session 2025-26.

Candidates must pass the H.S.L.C. or its equivalent examination in single sitting with Mathematics and Science as compulsory subjects. Candidates also must have passed individually in both Theory and Practical examinations in Mathematics and Science.

- The online registration portal will open at 4:00 PM on 19th May 2025 and will remain open until 7th June, 2025.
- In that portal, you will get the option to register yourself.
- Click “New Registration” button.
- And Complete your registration by filling in your details like Full Name, Date of Birth, Email Address, Mobile Number, and creating a strong password.
- Fill your all personal and educational details and upload necessary documents.
- Complete the online application form with all required details.
- Ensure all information is accurate and complete.
- Then, make the application payment.
- Review your application carefully, and submit it online before the deadline.

- Permanent residents certificate [P.R.C.],
- Caste certificate for all candidates except Un-Reserved Category.
- Non-creamy layer certificate – for OBC/MOBC and also six communities under ОВС/МОВС.
- Grandsons/grand-daughters of freedom fighter: Certificate issued by from the Principal Private Secretary to the Chief Minister or from Home and Political Department and relationship certificate from concerned Deputy Commissioner.
- Son/daughter of retired defense person: certificate from the Director, Rajyik Sainik Board, Assam.
- Son/daughter of central government employees: P.R.C.- from the concerned state authority outside Assam and service certificate of father/mother from the concerned authority located in Assam.
- Physically Handicapped (PH)/ Persons with Disabilities (PWD): Identity Card for differently abled issued by the Social Welfare Department, Assam.
- Economically Weaker Sections [EWSs]: Valid E.W.S. Certificate.
- Tuition Fee Waiver [TFW]: Annual Income Certificate issued by the authority not below the rank of Revenue Circle Officer.
- Sports quota: Certificate from the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare, Assam.

- Candidates will not be permitted to take admission without Permanent Resident Certificate [PRC]/ Caste Certificate / for OBC/MOBC (Non Creamy Layer Certificate)/valid EWS certificate. Therefore, the candidates are requested to keep the PRC and above mentioned documents ready well in advance for admission into the State Govt. Polytechnics of Assam.

About Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Assam
Technical Education in Assam started with the establishment of Prince of Wales Institute of Engineering & Technology at Jorhat before independence in 1927. Establishment of Assam Engineering Institute and later establishment of Assam Engineering College was the beginning of Technical Education in the State of Assam.
It has been a long journey of evolution of State technical Education in the State of Assam. Directorate of Technical Education, Assam was established at 1960. Now there are 7 Govt. Engineering Colleges and 26 Polytechnics under this Directorate. In the Technical Education front, there has been phenomenal growth in the recent past. The first Engineering College – Assam Engineering College was established in 1956 at Guwahati and the first Diploma Institution. Assam Textile Institution was established in 1920 at Guwahati.
